So what's it all about?

So what is Alma Plate about? (I hear you ask). Alma Plate is about real food.
As our tagline 'food for people and planet' suggests, Alma Plate supports food that nourishes the people that eat it, and food systems that sustain our planet.
The orange pictured above is from a seasonal fruit & veg box purchased from Sandy Creek Gourmet Produce via the Echo Valley Farm online shop. Echo Valley Farm's principles are 'the 4 Goods' - ‘Good for the animal, good for the land, good for the farmer and good for you’. Sandy Creek Gourmet Produce grows fresh produce on their own farm as well as sourcing from local, independent farmers.
Alma Plate is also about sharing recipes that use real food - to add more variety to our plates. A couple of the oranges from this box were used for an 'orange sauce' that was plate licking good!
You can find this orange sauce recipe here. The recipe is in note form, because, well - that's the way we roll. This orange sauce was served with poached duck, roast pumpkin, and potatoes, and a carrot & beet salad.
Enjoy.
